First Army Mule Post..

Well, were in the most beautiful city in the “world” as the pilot explained to 200+ passengers of the South African Airways Air Bus (aeroplane). Once we retrieved our equipment, Sam went in search of Wolfgang our host for the next three days and for the last two after the race. Were staying at the Cape Oasis guesthouse on the out skirts of Cape Town, a very pleasant and chilled out property on the edge of a lagoon, a windsurfers paradise! Those of you who know Tony can imagine all he wanted to do was surf the waves, the Epic was the last thing on his mind. Having tied him down to sorting out the bikes and test riding them. We started out by giving some needed TLC to the bikes, it’s been a hard year for them, apart form this they have stood up well. Tony’s right shifter wouldn’t return to engage the next gear, his new set of wheels were still sounding that herd of woodlouse had taking up residence in them, they themselves were the bearings. I on the other hand had slightly different problems, my breaks, having changed the pads I had to sort out the rubbing on the disc breaks, a visit to a bike shop sorted the split washers on both front and rear break callipers, that sorted I could quite confidently stop at a red light!
During this time Sam and Gaz were sunning them selves by the pool back at the Oasis. As a matter of interest Gaz is now known as BC (boarding card) he had an issue with his when checking in, being a mover it all went horribly wrong.
On the whole things are going well, accommodation is good, food is what we buy, the weather is just going to get hotter and hotter as the week goes on including into next week. Tomorrow we are scheduled to be on BFBS radio at 0710hrs in the morning, what’s that all about? Apparently were going to be making an appearance on the film coverage for the race, the organisers want to interview some of the other teams rather that the Elite teams. This should be fun not forgetting good for all the sponsors out there.
If I can take this opportunity just to say once again thanks for all your support in getting us here, we are benefiting by having an experience of a life time, overall Help for Heroes and The Army Benevolent Fund will be the big winners, if all of you out there can encourage friends, mates, relations etc just to pledge a few pounds towards them this would make the trip that much more special.

ENEKO - CONGRATULATIONS
A really big win for Eneko at the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon - huge congrats man. We are proud of you.

Eneko beat a host of world favourites to finish with a combined time of 6h34m37 in the 223kms ADIT– nearly a minute ahead of second placed Dirk Bockel from Luxemburg.
The win was even sweeter as Julie Dibens also won, making it 2 wins for the two 2009 off-road Xterra World Champions.
